Robert Lawson Brown, Ph.D.
I received my physics doctorate from the University of Virginia in 1978. I was a member of the technical staff at the Fairchild Research Center (Palo Alto, California) from 1980 to 1988. From 1988 to 2017, I was a metrologist, product development scientist, and Director of Technical Communications at Ultratech, Inc. (San Jose, California) from 1988 to 2017. I hold a patent on vertical interconnections (VIA) for integrated circuits and a patent on mechanisms used with machine vision for photolithography of integrated circuits. I retired in 2017.
I am an amateur photographer, though in the course of my occupation I have produced photographs for commercial purposes. I also continue to work with computer programming, DIY projects, and trying to keep up with the new physics.
In Second Life, I am known as Scire Gaea. I started my presence in SL back in September of 2006. I also have a presence on the OSgrid, via a Kitely account (as Robert Brown) and also as Scire Gaea on the Science Circle OSgrid region.
