How to attend our presentations
We are hosted in the immersive virtual world of Second Life, where you can explore, collaborate, and connect with our global community of science enthusiasts, students, and experts. Follow these simple steps to join us:
1. Sign Up for Second Life: – Visit secondlife.com (https://secondlife.com) and click the “Join Free” button to create your account. – Design your unique avatar to represent you in the virtual world.
2. Download the Second Life Viewer: – To fully experience Second Life’s 3D environment, download the free Second Life Viewer (SL Viewer) from the Second Life website. The viewer is quick to install and easy to use. – Follow the installation instructions, then log in with your new account.
3. Get Familiar with Second Life: – New to Second Life? Take your time to explore! Second Life offers a tutorial path for new arrivals to help you learn the basics of navigation, communication, and interaction. We recommend completing this tutorial before diving into the main grid to ensure a smooth experience.
4. Connect with The Science Circle: – Once you’re comfortable in Second Life, use the magnifying glass (search icon) in the viewer’s left toolbar. – Type Nymf Hathaway or Jes Cobalt in the search bar, then click IM (Instant Message) to contact one of us directly. – Reach out to Nymf or Jes, and we’ll guide you to our virtual lunar hub!
5. For Educators: – Interested in using Second Life for educational purposes? Dr. Steven R. Van Hook, CEO of EDUCARE, has developed a dedicated tutorial island to help teachers integrate Second Life into their classrooms. Contact us at info@sciencecircle.org for more details or to access this resource.
